When you click an email link in a website using Firefox 3 browser, you are either prompted to install an email client such as Microsoft Outlook or others. In order to have Gmail as your default email client, do following:
- Go to "Tools" in the menu bar --> Click "Options".
- From "Options" click the "Applications" tab.
- In the "Applications", go to "mailto" Content Type and choose "Use Gmail" in the "Actions" drop-down menu.
- If you don't want to use Gmail, then you can also use either "Outlook" or Yahoo Mail" or your default email client in the computer from the "Actions".
- Click "OK" to save these settings.

Go to Tools --> Applications --> Mailto --> Select "Use Gmail" in Firefox 3.
Once you save the settings, when you click any email link in a website, your Gmail window will open, from which you can send the email.
If you want to use Gmail as your default mail client for the computer also download and install either Gmail Notifier for Windows or Google Notifier for Mac.
